Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

Our first stop on the cruise was to Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. As we sailed into the island, the water and horizon were stunning! Gorgeous aquas turned into deeper blues and contrasted with the beautiful white sand. We tendered to the island and disembarked into a small “port” town set up with shops and bars owned by Carnival. With a couple Miami Vice drinks in hand (half Pina Colada, half Strawberry Daiquiri), we wandered around the local shops and checked into our excursion– horseback riding on the shore! This has always been on my bucket list, so I was more than excited. ย A little while later, about 15 of us climbed aboard an open-air safari truck and headed towards the far end of the island to the horse stables. Once we grabbed our helmets, we were assigned horses and I lucked out with a beautiful black horse named Pride while Rob saddled up on Reggae. After trotting around the stable for a warm up, we toured the island and passed green acres filled with goats, trails and palm trees. We headed back towards the beach and Pride rode me threw the shallow waters and Reggae followed close behind– which made it easy to get good selfies of us together! After a bit, we took the horses back to the stables and grabbed some water for ourselves (and them!) before switching horses and taking them for a swim in the ocean. It was amazing and I’m pretty sure I had a smile plastered to my face the entire time ๐Ÿ™‚ Although it was a little more romantic in my head, it was hilarious and utterly realistic that my new horse decided to relieve himself (if ya know what I mean!) on the way back to shore. I mean, life happens!
