Best Day Ever
Our wedding was an absolute dream come true. Not only was I marrying my best friend, but we were getting married in paradise. I had always wanted to have a tropical beach wedding, and luckily, so did my husband 🙂 After getting engaged, we considered various venues and ultimately decided on an intimate, destination wedding in Hawaii. With family friends living in Maui (and gracious enough to host our rehearsal dinner), we kicked off a couple months of planning before jetting over with family and friends to say our “I do’s”. (After being together for seven years, it was pretty simple to plan the wedding in such a short time!)
We arrived to the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa a few days before the wedding and welcomed friends and family as they flew in. We wanted our wedding to be a celebration as well as a vacation for everyone that made the trip and it was amazing to walk around the resort and see them having a great time!
The day of our wedding was filled with pure joy! The morning was incredibly relaxed and spent having breakfast with friends before hanging out in the cabanas overlooking the infinity pool and ocean. Honestly, I was on cloud 9 the entire day and couldn’t have been happier to have our favorite people with us. My girls finally pulled me away to get ready and we met our photographers, Love and Water, to begin capturing the process.
Just before sunset, we made our way down to the oceanfront setting with gorgeous views and beautiful skies. Our navy and aqua colors paired perfectly with the sunset-hued roses, arrangements and aisle petals. Palm branches were placed on each chair along with custom-designed program fans to help with the humidity and heat. As my dad and I walked down the aisle, another dream came true. Since he is a professional musician, I had always wanted him to record Canon in D for my bridal processional so it could play while we walked together. The marimba and vibes made such a sweet sound and it was truly a special moment that I was able to share with him. As we got closer, Rob looked beyond handsome in his navy tuxedo and the joy on his face matched the joy in my heart. I couldn’t believe we were finally getting married– it was so surreal!
Our ceremony was officiated by our college Track and Field coach and filled with personal anecdotes, humor and love. We found it fitting since we met on the track and he knew both of us really well, watching us grow athletically and personally over the years. We truly couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day celebrating with our family and friends and absolutely love the moments that were captured.
These are a few of our favorites…
We danced and partied the rest of the evening enjoying the delicious food and dessert. Since my mom owns Sweet Celebrations (and she got to fulfill her dream of making my wedding cake!), she made all three tiers different cake flavors. The bottom tier was blue velvet cake with cream cheese filling; the middle tier was chocolate, vanilla marble cake with raspberry filling; and the top was lemon cake with lemon filling– all of them were so delicious and just thinking about them now makes me want to eat them again! She even made all of the Oreo truffle favors for each of our guests– I may be biased, but she’s the best!
Our guest book consisted of throwing paint-filled water balloons at a large canvas in navys, aquas, silver and white to create a piece of art that we could always have. Everyone had fun testing their throwing skills and adding to our original masterpiece. We closed out the reception with a warm rain that encouraged everyone to change into their swimsuits and meet back out at the infinity pool for the perfect ending to the Best. Day. Ever. We are so thankful to everyone who helped make our wedding such an incredible moment in our lives!
