They say hindsight is 20/20 đâ you know, you see everything you shouldâve, wouldâve, couldâve done so clearly. You can see the mistakes you made, the heartbreak and screw ups, and maybe you can even feel them still. Youâve lived it, lost it, but hopefully learned from it. Hindsight is that aha moment when all those troubles or misunderstandings finally make sense. Sometimes it takes days and sometimes it takes years, but youâve got a clear picture of WHY something played out the way it did. Now itâs time to use it to your advantage.
Itâs officially 2020â all the puns intended. A chance to see things clearly from your past so you can avoid the same mistakes in the futureâ itâs a lesson in letting go and moving on with more wisdom and clarity than you had before. Itâs making new promises to yourself to not repeat what hurt you or didnât serve you. Itâs a message to your heart that you can push through hard things, continue to grow and keep learning.
Have you ever heard how God keeps giving you the same lesson until you learn it? Ya, thatâs why Iâve been tested in patience my entire life. Iâm great at long-term patience (got engaged after seven years) and not so great at the short-term (how come nobody knows how to drive?!) You feel me? I still havenât quite figured out the short term (maybe because there are just stupid drivers everywhere!), but I think itâs better than it used to be đ
Anyways, the end of the year AND THE DECADE means it time to think back through the year, identify the highs and lows, and figure out if youâre replaying the same scenario over and over again. If you keep repeating the same thing thatâs bringing you down, youâre missing the point. Youâre not supposed to stay stuck. Or unhappy. Iâve always said that if you donât like something, then CHANGE it. Itâs up to you to realize whatâs holding you down and make the change.
âIf we were meant to stay in one place, weâd have roots instead of feet.â â Rachel Wolchin
You owe it to yourself to keep moving forward and learning so you can actually look back in a year from now and say, âDamn, Iâm so happy I did that!â Iâm so happy I took that chance or cut those ties or focused on myself a little more to put myself in a better spot. It might be scary as hell, but I bet what youâre really looking for is on the other side of what scares youâ what you KNOW will require effort, hard work and more consistency than youâre used to. Itâs time to take a hard dive into the past twelve months and come out stronger for the year ahead! Youâll be so proud of yourself!
Wishing you the happiest New Year and that you make this your year of 20/20!â¨
