We love a good before and after and this transformation is no exception! With an original 1959 kitchen, this diamond in the rough truly shines with crisp black, white and brass details! Although the vinyl flooring was an earlier modification, we brought the floors back to their original glory and matched them to the rest of the house. The footprint of the kitchen needed to remain, but we were able to rework the layout within it so the beauty matched the function. This is one galley kitchen we can definitely get behind!

Our client’s love of white was of utmost importance with sleek lines coming in a close second. We loved mixing in the high contrast black fixtures and couldn’t be happier with the custom-designed hood with the steel band! Their niche above the range was designed specifically for their salt and pepper shakers that were part of an antique Wedgewood stove in the very first house they owned… how sweet is that?! These shakers have been moved into all of their homes in seven cities across three states before making their landing spot here in Sacramento. This year our clients will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary and these shakers have been with them for 34 of those! We love when we get to highlight special moments in their lives!

The brushed brass hardware adds a beautiful warmth and detail we couldn’t pass up and we love how the sconces and open shelves give it some character!

The microdrawer is now neatly contained under the counter and the nook banquette has drawers that provide additional storage for their seasonal and less-used items.

Ok, are you ready for the before photos?! Of course you are! Say hello to this original kitchen and then a quick goodbye as you scroll down to the side-by-side images!

Out with old and in with the new! We love showing the side by side comparisons, so here you go! By giving them a range instead of a cooktop, we were able to use the space from the oddly-placed oven and turn it into a pantry. You can’t quite see it in this before photo, but directly to the left of the oven was an opening that led to the living room that also got closed off to make room for their storage.
